For the valve installed in the outdoor valve well, it is recommended to use a non-rising stem gate valve.

Using a rising stem gate valve has the following disadvantages:

1. When the valve is switched on and off, the valve stem needs to rise and fall, which occupies a large space. If the pipeline is not buried very deep, the valve well will hinder the opening of the valve. When the valve is opened, the valve well cover will not be covered or the valve cannot be fully opened.

2. After the switching times are too many, the contact surface between the valve stem and the pressure flange cover has serious water leakage, and it is necessary to replace the packing frequently.

3. If the valve is not switched on and off frequently, part of the valve stem will be exposed outside the valve body for a long time. In the humid environment of the valve well, the exposed valve stem is very easy to oxidize, rust and rust. Once it needs to be closed, it will not be closed. Otherwise, it is necessary to apply grease frequently. All in all, a lot of maintenance work.

Non-rising stem valves do not have these problems, the probability of water leakage is also small, and of course the maintenance workload is also small.
